Secret to Getting Promoted
As a Dale Carnegie trainer, I hear more managers saying, “I should promote that person. However, I can’t promote him because he can’t speak confidently in front of a group.”
Don’t be the employee who can’t be promoted because you have a fear of public speaking.
Follow these three public speaking tips, which are directly from the Dale Carnegie Course: Skills for Success program may be your first step to a promotion.
1. Preparation is Key.
Spend time putting your presentation together so that it flows. Start with a story.
2. Accentuate the Positive.
Get in touch with your strengths and weaknesses as a public speaker. Don’t try to change yourself or be something you’re not.
3. Start with a Smile.
Research has shown that the act of smiling makes a person feel more positive and at ease. This also includes those on the receiving side of a smile. So, start with a smile and then share a story. Doing so will make you and your audience feel more relaxed, confident, and connected.
